Italian Early Renaissance:
The Renaissance movement known as “The Revival of Art” was the transition from medieval to modern art. Originating in Italy from 1330-1450. The Renaissance movement contains Greek styles, and is a movement of the new birth of the realistic art styles. Giotto di Bondone was born in 1266, in the village of Vespignano, near Florence. Bondone was a Florentine painter and architect. Bondone is considered one of the first artists of the Italian Renaissance movement. Bondone paints in the Greek and dark style, of mostly sacred and holy scenes. Bondone painted a Madonna and Child from 1320-1330. He uses a dark style with deep color choices, and detailed style. The Madonna holing her child is a very holy figure (Spark Notes).
